In the Amazon, sport fishing is governed by the river level. Understanding the water cycle is what separates a good trip from an unforgettable one — and on the Sucunduri that cycle has a very clear peak.

Why the dry season makes the fishing

When the river drops, water pulls back from the flooded forest and pushes baitfish into the channel and onto the beaches. Peacock bass that were scattered in the igapó concentrate in predictable spots — far easier to find and trigger.

Month by month on the Sucunduri

July to September is the peak: low water, exposed beaches and aggressive peacock bass. October and November stay excellent, with hot days and spectacular surface strikes. From January to June the river is high and we don't run trips.

What to expect on the water

Black, crystalline water, white-sand beaches, and açu peacock bass that easily top 10 kg in the channels. It's also the best window for the fly and for the big bottom-dwelling catfish.

When to book

Peak weeks (July–September) usually sell out months ahead, because we operate limited spots per season. If you want a specific week, reach out early.
